Realtor.com Reports Weekly Active Inventory Down 9% YoY; New Listings Down 17% YoY
about 1 year ago by Calculated Risk @ Calculated Risk

Realtor.com has monthly and weekly data on the existing home market. Here is their weekly report from Danielle Hale: Weekly Housing Trends View — Data Week Ending July 29, 2023• Active inventory declined, with for-sale homes lagging behind year ago levels by 9%. This week marks a 6th consecutive decline in the number of homes actively for sale compared to the prior year, and the gap is growing. • New listings–a measure of sellers putting homes up for sale–were down again this week, by 17% from one year ago. For 56 weeks, there have been fewer newly listed homes compared to the same time one year ago. Last week we noted that while the gap from a percent change has been fairly consistent this year, it could wane in the weeks ahead as the second half of 2022 new listing were particularly low. </...

Will Rising Rates Lead to a Stock Market Bloodbath?
about 1 year ago by Ian Culley @ All Star Charts

From the Desk of Ian Culley @IanCulley Rates are on the move again. The US 30-year Treasury yield $TYX cleared numerous hurdles this week.  It broke above a shelf of former highs, climbing to its highest level year-to-date. And, perhaps more importantly, it reclaimed its former 2014 high. Add a potential failed breakdown in the […] The post Will Rising Rates Lead to a Stock Market Bloodbath? appeared first on All Star Charts.

Fitch Downgrade Sends TLT Closer to Target Set Months Ago | Halftime by Chaikin Analytics (08.03.23)
about 1 year ago by StockCharts TV @ StockCharts.com YouTube Channel

There is no way around the fact that, as bonds fall, yields rise. Some say this is a non-event, while Pete Carmasino says, "let the trends tell you what type of event this is." Mega-caps have pulled back but two massive names are due to report tonight, Apple and Amazon. Pete looks at the charts for future clues before earnings. Oil moved up and out of Pete's White House Buy Range, the US Dollar is at a resistance level built over a year ago, any move higher means rates are up, and bond prices are down. If that happens, it could be a drag on overseas revenue for the multi-nationals.
